Internship:
The final year students of Human Development are being sent to child and family welfare centers for 15 days internship.


Objectives of the Internship are as under:

  1. Students are given exposure of the functioning of child and family welfare agencies.
  2. Students work with people/children living in the welfare center that gives them experience of working with a specific target group.
  3. Students apply classroom teaching techniques in the field practice.

 

Procedure for Internship:

  1. Students select convenient welfare center anywhere in Gujarat or outside Gujarat.
  2. Maximum two students can be sent to one centre.
  3. Students are oriented for internship before they are placed in any center.
  4. Students have to work for 7-8 hours per day, where they work with the target group, collect information and then prepare a Report.
  5. At the end of the internship the Head of the Center issue certificates to the concern students and send evaluation report to the subject teacher.

 

Benefits of Internship:

  1. Students get first hand information and come to know about realistic scenario of the welfare centers.
  2. Increases self confidence and work capacity of the students.
  3. Get better job opportunities.

 

Foods and Nutrition:


OBJECTIVE:

  1. Understand the working of health organization and food industry
  2. Gain knowledge in various aspects in management of institution and beneficiaries
  3. They would work for period of four week in any setting like multispecialty hospital, ICDS Women welfare organization, Hostel food industry, canteen, etc.

The foods and nutrition students work with Anganwadi, where they get the first hand knowledge of the government schemes working for the employment of women and children suffering from malnourishment.
They stay in Anganwadis and work under supervisors, celebrate days, interact with pregnant and lactating women, organize workshops for recipe demonstration and detecting adulteration in foods.

  1. Work with young children, teach nursery rhymes, take lectures in different topics with adolescent girls and conduct role plays in subject of Nutrition, Sanitation and Hygiene, use of packaged foods etc.

Benefits:

  1. Students get to apply the knowledge gained in the field.
  2. They have a firsthand experience of organization.
  3. They also face the ground reality of governments’ efforts in eradicating malnutrition.


Food science and quality control:

Students go for 15 days internship in industries with following

objectives:

  1. To develop knowledge and specific skills for working in food industries.

They are placed in small scale, large scale food industries, where they will be exposed and trained in the following area.

  1. Food manufacturing packaging marketing
  2. Quality Control aspects
  3. Plant layout, sanitation, Hygiene and safety
  4. Cost control

Students work with the technicians or people in food industries and get experience of working in different areas of industry.

Procedure:

  1. On the basis of merit they are selected for food industry in Gujarat.
  2. Maximum 04 students are being sent
  3. They have to stay according to the industry timings as well as the rules and regulations of the industry.
  4. They work under supervisor in different areas.
  5. An attendance certificate is issued by supervisor and evaluation report is given.
